55places.com is a top online resource for active adult communities across the country. In order to create more engagement and increase conversion rates on the site, the 55places.com product team came up with 55places User Accounts – a completely new feature that allows users to favorite homes and communities and receive alerts about those favorites. Since the majority of users on 55places.com are age 55 and over, I needed to design a dashboard that was easy to navigate and simple to understand. Also, because User Accounts is a completely new, unfamiliar feature, we recognized it would be beneficial to 1) call out new account features on the site using tooltips and 2) create a full-screen onboarding "tour" to walk them through exactly how to use their new account.
